Student and Parent ProfileOnline Academy is an independent study program that is 100% virtual. It was designed specifically to complement the secondary student's (7-12) home schooling experience. The program offers a great deal of flexibility for students and families in faith-based communities, who desire a non-traditional learning experience, who are navigating medical/health challenges, who travel extensively, etc. We provide an exceptional opportunity for students to earn a high school diploma from an accredited school, authorized by the State of California, and that is staffed by highly qualified CA credentialed teachers.

  • Highly-qualified, state-certified teachers: Students are taught by California certified teachers who provide continuous progress monitoring and personalized learning. Our online teachers help students understand class material and stay on track to achieve their academic goals. Our teachers communicate regularly with learners through internal email and use the secure, web-based system to manage student grades, assignments, and tests.
  • Flexible program options: The Online Academy program can be customized to meet the needs of different types of learners, from those who seek to accelerate to those recovering credits. We provides students with the flexibility to complete coursework at times and locations most convenient for them.

This accreditation allows us the unique ability to offer high school credits and diplomas recognized by schools and colleges across the U.S. and around the world.

Who We Are

School Leadership
As the Online Academy Principal, Adam Napoleon is the administrator in charge of the school’s Online Academy program. Adam has a strong instructional technology background as well as being the principal of Piner-Olivet’s Homestudy Program and principal of Northwest Prep’s Project Based Learning school.  He was a teacher for 13 years before moving into administration.

Academy Teachers
As Online Academy Principal, Adam Napoleon collaborates with a team of highly qualified credentialed teachers who have been trained in online instruction to provide a unique online learning experience. Online Academy teachers:
  • Respond to student needs via phone calls, text messages, emails or other forms of communications to provide direct instruction and any additional clarification
  • Respond to all emails, messages, and text messages from the students, parents, or site coordinators
  • Grade student work by providing feedback and encouragement
  • Monitor students’ progress and success
  • Prepare weekly progress report data which includes current grade, end date reminders, recommendations concerning student pace, progress, performance, and remediation as needed
  • Provide newly enrolled students an overview of help resources
  • Contact students that haven’t logged into program recently (typically five to seven days or more)

Student Eligibility
Secondary Student Eligibility: Only students who have maintained a 2.0 GPA and have had no failing grades the year before entry may apply to be a full-time virtual student. Parental permission is also needed. Once in the program students must maintain a 2.0 GPA, must have no failing semester grades, and complete all courses within the time frame provided under the course length described below. If a student fails to meet these requirements they will be on probation for one semester. IF the student comes back into compliance they may continue in the program and will no longer be on probation. If a student does not come back into compliance they shall be removed from the full time program and be placed back in their home school. Guidance and parental approval required.

Elementary Students Eligibility: Only students who have had no failing grades from the year before may apply to be a full-time virtual student. To remain in the program, students need to pass all courses for the year and complete all courses within the time frame provided under the course length described below. If a student fails to meet these requirements they will be on probation for one semester. IF the student comes back into compliance they may continue in the program and will no longer be on probation. If a student does not come back into compliance they shall be removed from the full time program and be placed back in their home school. Guidance and parental approval required.

Home School Students from year before: All Home School students will be automatically accepted in the program as a full-time student. After starting the program these students will follow the same rules for continuing eligibility as all other students for their grade level.

Begin the enrollment process by filling out our preregistration form.   We also ask that you submit the following documents:
  • Transcript/academic history
  • A copy of the student's most recent IEP or 504 (if applicable)
  • Expulsion documents (if applicable)
Submitting the pre-registration form and the attached documents allow the Online Academy team to begin collecting the information necessary to determine if our program is the best option for your student.You can expect a member of our team to contact you shortly after the form is submitted, to move the process forward.

Enrollment Process
The process for enrolling a student is as follows:
  1. Complete the pre-registration form and submit the attached documents (see above) for the Online Academy Program
  2. Schedule a meeting with Adam Napoleon, Principal of Online Academy, to discuss the program, review credit history, and determine appropriateness of the program in meeting student needs and progress toward graduation
  3. Online Academy staff will then schedule an intake meeting with the student and parent/guardian, sign a Master Agreement/Student Code of Conduct Contract, and give access to Edmentum. A weekly meeting date and time will be established and agreed upon by the Online Academy Teacher, student and parent/guardian.
